“What’s that sound?”

He cocked his head to listen.  “What do you think it is?  It’s the ocean.  We’re on Beachman road… remember?”

“Really?”  Her eyes brightened.  “I knew we were close, since Timothy and I ate at the wharf, but I didn’t know you could see it.”

Dane gave a feral grin.  She didn’t realize she’d given away the date who’d manhandled her.  He’d be paying old Timothy a visit later.  “You want to take a walk?”

“Can we?”  She clapped her hands together.  “Oh…but I should go home.”

“Come on,” he encouraged.  He didn’t want their time to end yet.  He held out his hand.  “Let’s go walk on the beach.”

Cilla’s heart leaped.  He actually sounded like he wanted her with him.  Without a word she put her hand in his, her nerves tingling just at his touch.

Grabbing something from the back of his bike, Dane led the way across the road and down the slight bank to the sand.  The moon was full enough so Cilla could see its light dancing on the swells.  “Oh…it’s so pretty.”

“Yeah,” he agreed gruffly, not taking his eyes off her.  They walked for a time, without saying a word.  All that could be heard was the sound of the waves crashing on the beach.  After a long time, Cilla sighed.

“This makes me wish I had a house right on the beach.  I love the ocean.”

“You’re a Ward, honey.  You can have anything you want.”

Cilla’s pretty mouth turned down.  “You’d be surprised.  Being a Ward isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.”

He slanted her a surprised look.  She was staring out at the ocean and her face was sad.  “I don’t understand.”

She shrugged.  “People think being rich makes life easy.  It doesn’t.  It complicates things.”

Dane snorted.  “I’ll take those complications.”

“And I’d take your life in a heartbeat.”

He stopped dead and she was jerked to a stop.  “Don’t mock me, Pricilla.”  His tone was bitter.  “My life isn’t something someone like you could ever understand.  Shit.  I don’t even understand why you’re not afraid of me.”

She looked at him in bewilderment.  “Why would I be afraid of you?”

He gave a low growl.  “I’m Dane Matthews.  I eat little girls like you for breakfast.  Didn’t your mama warn you about me?”

Cilla’s mind was suddenly flooded with pictures of Dane lying between her legs, his face buried in her crotch.  She gasped as her panties went damp.  She was trembling when she met his eyes.  “I…I can make up my own mind.”

Dane laughed roughly.  “If I came anywhere near you, I’d be run out of town on a rail.  Your parents would see to that.”

Knowing it was true, Cilla couldn’t refute it.  “I’m still not afraid of you.”  She daringly placed a shaky hand on his chest.  “I like you.”

He went still for a long moment then his intense blue eyes narrowed.  “I have a blanket.  Let’s sit down.”

Without waiting for her acquiescence, he walked higher into the dunes and spread out a sleeping bag.  She followed him silently.

“Where did the blanket come from?”

Dane sat down and patted the spot beside him.  “I always have it on the back of my bike in case I get caught away from home.”

Cilla sat down and sighed.  “This is nice.  I love watching the waves.”

“You should be afraid, you know,” Dane said suddenly.  He reached out and cupped her chin, turning her face towards him.  “You don’t have a clue to what I’m thinking right now.”

She swallowed hard as his hot gaze held hers.  Her heart thumped again.  Was Dane Matthews coming on to her? Oh God…she hoped so.  She wanted him too.  She gave a little moan and instinctively swayed towards him.  “And you don’t know what I’m thinking, either.”

Dane saw the surrender in her eyes and felt his whole body tighten.  He couldn’t believe this was happening, but he wasn’t going to question his good luck.  Pulling her to him, he rolled so she lay beneath him on the bag.  Slanting his mouth over hers, he kissed her just like he’d been dreaming of doing for so long.

She was soft and sweet and when he plunged his tongue between those pouting lips, her taste made him groan deep in his throat.  He made love to her mouth, teasing her as he nibbled and sucked, drawing out little gasps from her as he went.

His body ached with the knowledge he was holding her in his arms.  Finally…after all these years.  His hand moved up her waist and gently cupped her breast, squeezing it once, before he used his thumb to rub over the already erect tip.

She gave a low moan and instinctively arched closer to him.  Dane felt sweat break out on his forehead as his lust went to flashpoint in a heartbeat.

His kisses grew harder and deeper as he became more aroused.  Cilla ran her hands under his T-shirt and up his strong back, glorying in the strength she found there.  He groaned once and pulled her further under him, his hard body pressing down on hers.

She could feel his throbbing erection against her stomach and her panties got even wetter in response.  Without thinking, she lifted her hips so his cock rested in the notch of her thighs.

He cursed darkly, shuddering over her.  Then he lifted his head and stared down at her, his blue eyes so intense she felt like they burned her.  Then his mouth came down on hers again and she moaned at the voracious hunger she felt from him.

Somehow her clothes disappeared, as did his, and they were lying naked on the blanket underneath the light of the moon.  His hands moved over her with a sureness that made her whimper in need.  His lips nibbled and caressed her breasts.

“Please, Dane,” she cried out, writhing beneath him.  Wanting him, needing him… Finally all her fantasies would come true.
